If flying to Wittman Regional Airport (KOSH), don’t leave home without the Official NOTAM. This publication details all arrival and departure procedures, active radio frequencies, airport details and more. It’s indispensable.

Pilots will want to insure their aircraft stays grounded until they are ready to depart for home. The Claw Aircraft Tie Down Systemis trusted by more pilots for a reason. It works exceptionally well.

If you’d like to immerse yourself in aviation, a handheld radio is a great way to do so. Yaesu Handheld Transceivers remain our top pick.

Summers in Wisconsin are brutally hot. Be sure to pack your favorite ball cap, sunglasses, sunscreen and lots of water. Umbrellas provide great protection from the unrelenting sun, and the occasional shower.

Consider a cooler to keep your drinks and food cool while exploring the grounds at EAA Airventure®. We recently reviewed the Aerocoast Pro EFB + Cooler II in another blog article. This cooler is well within the size restrictions allowed by EAA®.

A cane chair is a great way to rest and recharge when exhausted, and also provides support while walking. We found this reasonably priced model, available from our friends at Overstock. Travelon Travel Seat and Walking Cane in One

Tip: If you’d like to get out of the heat for a while, check out the EAA® Aviation Museum. It’s air conditioned and has a wealth of amazing displays for your viewing pleasure.

Battery Backup. Nothing is worse that needing to make a call, check an email, or send a txt message only to find your cell phone has a dead battery. Pack a battery backup to insure that you always have the power when needed. With 6000mAh of power, the SUN ‘n FUN Battery Backup is a great choice. Your local Best Buy, Walmart or Gas station likely have ample options as well.

Download the EAA AirVenture® App to your Android or Apple phone. It’s chock full of must have information. It includes interactive maps, schedules, alerts and so much more.

Tip: Want a break from the hustle and bustle of EAA AirVenture®?  Visit the Seaplane Base. It’s a great location to relax and unwind, it’s very scenic and welcoming. There is a shuttle bus from the main campus that runs regularly.
